The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville covers a land area of 3,350.57 square km, located on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River; where the world renowned 1000 Islands region of the St. Lawrence River is located. The County is nestled in between Kingston on the west, Cornwall in the east and Ottawa to the north.
The area is connected to New York State via the Ivy Lea/Thousand Island International Bridge and the Prescott/Ogdensburg International Bridge. In addition, it is well-served by provincial highways connecting it to Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa. The Seaway Port of Prescott handles dry bulk materials (grain, road salt and aggregate) in eastern Ontario. Both the Town of Gananoque and the City of Brockville are the gateways to the Thousand Islands region. With the abundance of rivers and lakes, tourism is a major economic sector in the area.
Within the County there reside three separated municipalities, Gananoque, the City of Brockville and Prescott.
