Service Description
The Land Division Committee is responsible for the administration and approval of applications for consent to sever land within the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville. The Committee, is appointed by County Council. The program is administered by the Secretary-Treasurer to the Land Division Committee, Mrs. Judy Richards.
Responsibilities include:
- Pre-consultation and guidance to applicants;
- Receipt of complete applications;
- Circulation to municipalities, conservation authorities, adjacent landowners, etc;
- Notice of hearing and summary of recommendations;
- Administration of the Land Division Committee hearing;
- Circulation of the Notice of Decision;
- Liaison with the Ontario Municipal Board;
- Issuance of the Certificate of Consent.
The Land Division Committee is a division of the Planning Department which reports to the Director of Works, Planning Services and Asset Management.
Consultation Services Applicants are advised to pre-consult with:
- Secretary-Treasurer;
- Local municipality;
- Health Unit;
- Conservation Authority (as required);
- County Engineer (access to a county road);
- County Planner (as advised by the Secretary-Treasurer);
- Other (as required).
Provisional Approvals Occasionally approvals are conditional on confirmation of technical studies such as hydro-geological assessments of site servicing suitability. These studies are conducted at the applicant's expense and will be reviewed by the United Counties technical consultants also at the applicant's expense. All decisions and conditions of approval may be appealed to the Ontario Municipal Board. |
