The Ontario Early Years
Early Literacy Specialist
The Early Literacy Specialist works with Early Years Practitioners and community organizations to promote literacy opportunities among children 0 - 6 years of age.
The Early Literacy Specialist:
- maintains an Early Literacy Resource Collection for parents, caregivers, and teachers;
- helps bridge programs and assists with strengthening partnerships and networks;
- helps identify gaps in service;
- initiates community forums to draw upon the expertise of all sectors; and
- consults to kindergartens, playgroups, Early Literacy Groups, parents, and child care programs.
