Background Information An Affordable Housing Study was completed in January, 2004 for the United Counties of Leeds & Grenville by the consulting firm, SHS Inc. The findings from the study were presented and approved by the Joint Services Committee.
The study provides comprehensive data relating to population demographics, future projections and affordable housing needs across the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville.

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing recently announced the introduction of the new Canada Ontario Affordable Housing Program.
The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville is participating in the three program components:
1. Housing Allowance 2. Rental and Supportive Capital 3. Home Ownership
Rental and Supportive Capital Program The Rental and Supportive Capital Program provides up to $120,000 per unit for new development or renovation of affordable housing. The program is open to non-profit corporations, non-profit housing, corporations and developers. Funding is porvide by the provincial and federal governments with municipal supports.
Funds are accessed through an Expression of Interest process.
THIS PROGRAM IS NOW CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE FROM THE MINISTRY OF MUNICIPAL AFFIARS AND HOUSING. FUNDING HAS BEEN ALLOCATED.
Home Ownership Program (New Build and Resale Home) The purpose of the Home Ownership Component of the Affordable Housing Program is to provide a maximum downpayment of 5% up to $190,000 assistance to individuals and families for the purchase of a home. The downpayment is a foregiveable loan. The program requires that the home must be a new build construction or resale home and be the sole and principal residence of the approved homeowner.
