Community and Social Services Emergency Plan

In an emergency or disaster, Social Services is responsible for ensuring the provision of services required for the well being and survival of those affected.

The five essential services provided by Community and Social Services are:

  1. Emergency Clothing
  2. Emergency Lodging
  3. Emergency Feeding
  4. Registration and Inquiry
  5. Pyscho-Social Response (Personal Services)

The Emergency Response Plan outlines how Community and Social Services wil deliver these 5 essential services in support of our member and separated municipalities.

The Trainer/Emergency Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining the Emergency Response Plan and for providing on-going training to staff as it relates to the role of the Community and Social Services Division in an emergency situation.

In order to quickly accommodate citizens who may need to be evacuated from their homes, a number of evacuation centres have been identified across Leeds-Grenville.  The facilities are capable of accommodating large numbers of people for a significant period of time.

Should the need arise, Community and Social Services staff, in partnership with a number of Community agencies, will set up and run the evacuation centres.
